One size cloth diapers are a fairly new concept. They represent the ultimate cloth diapering option for both economic and eco-friendly reasons. With modern cloth diapers, one of the original advantages was that they are reusable and can be used and saved for future children. You invest in cloth for the first child and in return can then cloth diaper future children for no cost at all.

One size diapers came along and further simplified the cloth diapering world. Families no longer had to worry. Question like these used to be standard…

Would their newborn need an xtra small or small?

How many do you need and how soon will they need the next size up?

Would the time spent in a certain size justify the expense?

Should you try and start with a larger size and hope baby grows into it quickly?

What if baby needs an in between size?

What if you have two in diapers and one will wear a small while the other needs a large?

The One Size cloth diaper solves all these problems.

One Size Diapers fit babies from birth through potty training. Generally from about 8-35lbs.

Because they are one size, a family will not have to worry about baby outgrowing them or needing another size.

One size diapers are highly adjustable and often accommodate more than the typical S, M, L stages. They have snaps and aplix allowing them to fit all those in between stages as well.

They can be used on multiple children of different sizes. This means that both your newborn and your toddler can share the same diaper stash.

The one disadvantage you should know about is that if you use all one size diapers day in and day out then they will be getting washed all the time, unless you have a lot more than you need. This means they endure a lot more wear and tear and may not actually be in good enough shape to save and use for future children or for resale. So keep in mind, if you’re using one size cloth diapers, the more you have in your rotation the less each diaper is getting used which will extend their overall lifespan.

Thanks for reading!

The new Gro Baby Organic One Size Cloth Diaper from the Natural Baby Company is a revolutionary, modern cloth diapering system. The Gro Baby Diaper System consists of a waterproof shell lined with an unique quick drying mesh. The system has a certified organic soaker that can be snapped into the shell. When it is wet, simpy unsnap the soaker and place a fresh, dry soaker into the same shell.

The Gro Baby One Size Diaper is designed so that you can re-use the shell over and over with additional soakers. This reduces the amount of diaper laundry that you will have per load. In fact you only will need about 2-4 shells per day. Of course, if using with a newborn, I would imagine that you may need a few more. However, what is great about these diapers is with the unique mesh liner, if the shell gets damp just air dry in between uses.

The Gro Baby Organic Soaker is the second part of this diapering system. It is designed with elasticized leg gatherings to help contain messes. It seems to be very absorbant, yet trim. The soaker is made to wash thoroughly and dry rather quickly. The organic cotton fleece is luxuriously soft. If the soaker is just not quite enough for your heavy wetter or at naptime, The Natural Baby Company has designed a Gro Baby Booster that fits perfectly inside the soaker and gives a BOOST to the absorbancy. Of course, it is recommended that the soaker and booster be washed at least 3-5 times for absorbancy. However, since they are organic cotton, I would suggest that it may take about 10 wash cycles before they reach maximum absorbancy.

The Gro Baby Diaper System is a one size system designed to fit babies approximately 8 lbs – 35 lbs. This is accomplished through the traditional use of a snap down rise. There are three rise adjustments on the Gro Baby Diaper Shell. On first look, these snaps seem to be very sturdy and hold together well. They are, however, a natural color and do not match the diaper color. The Gro Baby is available in three vibrant colors… Kiwi, Mandarin, and Blackberry, with a new Vanilla color coming this summer. One other unique feature of this diaper is the use of a sticky-able fabric along the entire top edge of the diaper. It allows for infinite waist adjustments using the velcro-like tabs. Though I prefer snaps, the adjustability and lack of an unsightly velcro stip intrigue me.

At first look, I am really excited about the Gro Baby One Size Diaper. It fit my 25 lb, 2 year old beautifully. It may very well become my favorite diaper. A more thorough review will follow after I have a chance to break it in

Never before have I seen so many innovative cloth diapers being released at one time. This is true especially in the area of the Pocket Style Cloth Diaper. A great example of this “new style” is the FuzziBunz One-Size Pocket Diaper.

So, what is all the fuss about a one-size diaper? To begin with, FuzziBunz one-size pocket diaper do not have snaps on the front to change the length of the rise. Instead FuzziBunz uses adjustable elastic in both the legs and the waist. There are 8+ adjustments available in the leg elastic and 4+ adjustments available in the waist. No more readjusting the snap down rise, just find the settings that work with your child and no other adjusting needed until they need a larger size. Pretty easy, don’t you think?

FuzziBunz are committed to making a one size diaper that actually last for the approximately 3 years that your child will use them and maybe even for another child. Therefore, they designed these new on-size Pocket diapers with replaceable elastic. If it wears out before you are done with the diaper, it can be replace with no seem ripping or sewing. Now that is what I call innovative. Because without a doubt, the wearing out of elastic prematurely retires a perfectly good diaper, unless you (or someone you know) are a seamstress.

In addition to the elastic, FuzziBunz use only snap closure. Snaps usually hold up much better over time to wear and tear than hook and loop closures. Hook and Loop, like Aplix and Velcro, tend to loose its “stickiness” over time and looks worn and pilly way before its prime. This, once again, requires someone with some sewing knowledge to “fix” the aplix.

Overall, I am super excited by the FuzziBunz One-Size Pocket Diaper. An in-depth review will follow as soon as I am done trying it out.

As much as I love prefolds and covers, Pocket Style Cloth Diapers are by far my favorite. At the top of my list is the bumGenius 3.0 One-Size Cloth Diaper.

So why do I like bumGenius 3.0 so much? First of all, the craftsmanship is top-notch. From the first feel you can see that these Cloth Diapers are made from the finest of materials. Also, as you examine the bumGenius 3.0, you will see that the utmost in care has been made during the construction. The available colors are beautiful and four new vivid colors were recently added.

So aside from aesthetics, why are bumGenius 3.0 One-Size Diapers so great? Well they are one-size to begin with. They will fit from approximately 8 lbs to 35 lbs. There are 3 rows of snaps on the front that allow the rise to be adjusted to fit a wide variety of babies and toddlers. Do you have two children in diapers? This feature allows you to use the same cloth diapers with both children even if they vary widely in size.

Since the bumGenius 3.0 cloth diapers are a pocket style diaper, they can be stuffed with any number and variety of inserts. If you are using the diaper during the day, your child may only need a single insert. However for naps or even overnight more absorbency can be added.

In fact, I have used the bumGenius One-size for over two years as a night time diaper and I think they rock. As my baby has grown, her absorbency needs have changed. As a small infant, a single Cotton Babies one-size microfiber insert was more than enough, but as she neared 6 months more absorbency was needed to counteract longer stretches of sleep. Therefore, I would wrap the one-size insert in an infant prefold cloth diaper to up the absorbency.

I only have one issue with the bumGenius 3.0 one-size cloth diapers… the aplix (hook and loop fastener). Some people love aplix for its ease of adjustment and for this I think it is great. However, I think aplix looks worn way too fast. It tends to get pilly and frayed over time. Remembering to attach it to the laundry tabs helps keep it looking newer longer, but doesn’t prevent the worn look entirely. However this is just aesthetics and doesn’t affect the function of the diapers by any means. The fact remains, though, that aplix is very easy to use and has practically infinite adjustability. Even so, I am actually looking forward to trying the new snap bumGenius 3.0 AIO, which I will review at a later date.

Overall, I love bumGenius 3.0 One-Size Cloth Diapers. Aside from the aplix, they hold up well and dry quickly. If you are looking to try a one-size pocket style cloth diaper, I recommend starting with the bumGenius 3.0. I don’t think you will be dissapointed.
