  • My greatest hurdle at the begining was not having much of a diaper stash! I thought I could do it with only 10 diapers and not knowing much about CDs:) I’m still learning since I’m about 5months into CDing. I finally decided to get a pail liners for the dipes. It would be great to win a wetbag!

My biggest hurdle with cloth diapering has been figuring out my wash routine. Too much soap, too little soap, not the right soap, machine drying, hang drying, etc. I still don’t have it down perfectly.

My biggest hurdle with CDing still is that we spend a lot of weekends away from home with friends or relatives and I have a hard time CDing at their house. Not so much the actual CDing but just not being able to wash them everyday like I do at home…. I’m still working on that though.

  • Our initial post-meconium switch with DS1 was anxiety-ridden! LOL It was daunting just making the plunge after the “convenience” of disposables. Of course, switching over led to less diaper rash, the end of poop blowouts, cuter diapers, and a big $ savings. :) We were relieved on the next occasion we “got” to use disposables (trip with no laundry access), but we ended up being so disgusted at the blowouts and nastiness (especially the pellets and bits left on DS), we vowed never to go back!

What was/is your biggest hurdle with cloth diapering?

I’m expecting it to be those big blow outs!!! Baby due Aug 20th! Should be interesting :)

  • My biggest hurdle has been building up my stash. It is expensive to have to buy so many in the beginning!

Finding a diaper that my husband likes, and will hold the mess in. That is still my biggest problem, we have a couple of diapers that just don’t work well and that is always the ones he picks out :) little did I know he also would end up liking the snaps.

  • Hummm… biggest hurdle… I think still figuring out how to wash my diapers with my front loader. I think we are getting it down — I think it will also just be a matter of stripping from time to time, too. Also, vacations where don’t usually have laundry access or we are on the go, go, go and no time to spend at a laundry mat. So, we resort to disposables… OH… speaking of disposables… we use them at night because DD is SUCH a heavy wetter and we value sleep. ;)

My biggest hurdle has been the nighttime diaper. After a year of trial and error, I think I have found the answer…at least for this week!

My biggest cloth diaper hurdle would be the up front cost and there being to many cute diapers out there to choose from.

My biggest hurdle has been dealing with his sensitive skin, it took a long time to figure out what would work best for him, battling rashes with both sposies and cloth. We finally found diapers that work well for him and have been fully cloth since he was 4mo :) He’s 21mo now

  • Abrey

OK biggest hurdle……..Was, well getting my prefolds ready to wear. I bought ones that were not prewashed, now I see you can buy ones prewashed ready to use, that would have been awesome.

  • So far my biggest hurdle is knowing what to buy. This is my first child and I want to build up a stash. However, knowing what sizes/styles will ultimately work is a total guess on my part.

  • I just became a fan on Facebook.

Biggest hurdle is using cloth while traveling. It is so hard to add the bulk of cloth along with all my suitcases! haha :)

Our biggest hurdle was getting daycare to commit and then use them correctly. The first day, the lady put the Thirsties diaper on inside out, so there was nothing to soak up his pee! We now use a Thirsties AIO or BG 3.0 AIO with a ProWrap cover over the top so they can feel better that there will be no pee leaking onto any toys. No issues/comments from daycare for two months now!

  • Billy

Our biggest hurdle has been getting through the “supersoaker” stage. Our son used to soak a Goodmama in one pee… every 20 minutes… for 8 months. What a relief that he’s past that!

My biggest hurdle with cloth is both not having enough diapers and my wash routine. They kind of go hand in hand :)

My biggest hurdle is the cost. I really can not afford much for diapers, so my mom made most of my diapers. My second biggest is my husband. If I am not right there when he changes my guy he will put on a sposie…

What was/is your biggest hurdle with cloth diapering? Not being able to go to a store to actually touch the different kinds and types in order to make a good decision. Also, convincing my husband that the stories from people who did cloth diapers 18 years ago are not necessarily going to “hold water” today:)

  • Jessica

I still have one more month before my baby is born and I get to try out cloth diapers. My biggest hurtle so far is decided which diapering system to follow and then just buying them. I have spent month researching cloth diapers. I kept getting strong anxiety after researching diapers online for an hour so I just recently broke down and bought 2 dozen prefolds and a diaper cover. I know that won’t be enough but at least it gets me started. I am also working on knitting several wool diaper covers. That’s the funnest part so far. I can sit down and relax and after a few hours have a finished diaper cover.

The biggest initial hurdle was convincing my husband to touch the diapers! Now we are trying to figure out how to successfully travel with cloth.

My biggest hurdle is keeping up with washing and folding/stuffing diapers for two. I’ll be doing well for a while and then discover that I dropped the ball again.
